Payment of unpaid wages of deceased or missing workers under Section 131 | Bangladesh Labor Act -2006:
As per section-131 of BLA-2006,
(1) Subject to other provisions of this Chapter, if any money payable to a worker as wages cannot be paid due to their death or because their whereabouts are unknown:
Then,
(Ka) It shall be paid to the person nominated by the worker in accordance with the rules; or, if no nominee exists, to the legal heir(s) of the deceased worker.
Or,
(Kha) If there is no such nominee or legal heir, or if, for any reason, it is not possible to pay the nominee or legal heir within the next 12 (twelve) months, the money must be deposited into the "Workers Welfare Foundation Fund" of Bangladesh.
(2) If the concerned nominee or legal heir is not found within 10 (ten) years from the date the money was deposited into the "Workers Welfare Foundation Fund," the deposited amount shall be considered the permanent property of the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation.
