First Aid Equipment under Section 89 | Bangladesh Labor Act -2006:
As per “Section 89” of the Bangladesh Labor Act -2006-
(1) Every establishment shall provide and maintain, to be readily accessible during all working hours, a first-aid box or a cupboard equipped with the prescribed contents, or as determined by the rules.
(2) The number of such boxes or cupboards shall not be less than one for every one hundred and fifty workers ordinarily employed in the establishment.
(3) Every first-aid box or cupboard shall be in charge of a responsible person who is trained in first aid and who shall be available during all working hours of the establishment.
(4) The name of the person in charge shall be prominently displayed on a notice in every workroom, and such person shall wear a badge to be easily identifiable.
(5) In every establishment where three hundred or more workers are ordinarily employed, there shall be a dispensary equipped with medical and surgical equipment of the prescribed standard and scale, or with other facilities, along with a sickroom. The said room shall be under the supervision of a physician and nursing staff, as determined by the rules.
(6) The owner or owners of an establishment or establishments where five thousand or more workers are employed shall arrange for the operation of a permanent health center in the manner determined by the rules.
(7) A worker or employee afflicted with an occupational disease or suffering from an accident during working hours shall be treated, at the owner's own expense and responsibility, by a competent or specialist physician until the disease, injury, or ailment is completely cured.
(8) The owner of every establishment where 500 or more workers are employed shall appoint a welfare officer in the manner determined by the rules.
