Take precautions regarding fire under Section 62 | Bangladesh Labor Act -2006:
As per section-62(BLA-2006),
(1) Every establishment shall provide at least one alternative staircase or means of escape connecting every floor in case of fire, as determined by the rules, and 1[the requisite number of fire-fighting equipment on every floor.
(2) If it appears to any labor inspector that the provision for escape required by the rules mentioned in sub-section (1) has not been made 2[or the requisite number of fire-fighting equipment, as per the license of the fire extinguishing department, has not been kept], he shall issue a written order to the owner, informing him of the measures he deems necessary to be taken within the time specified therein.
(3) In every establishment, the means of exit from any room shall not be locked or obstructed in such a way that, if any person is working inside the room, it can be easily opened immediately from the inside, and all such doors, unless they are of the sliding type, shall be constructed so as to open outwards, or if a door is between two rooms, it shall be constructed so as to open towards the nearest path of exit of the building, and no such door shall be kept locked or obstructed while work is being carried on in the room.
(3A) In every establishment, during working hours, the path of exit from any room shall not be locked or obstructed, nor shall the path of exit be hindered or any restriction created in the path.
(3B) All doors shall be constructed so that they can be opened immediately from inside a workroom and open towards the outside.
(3C) If any door is between two rooms, it shall be constructed so as to open towards the nearest path of exit of the building, and all such doors shall not be kept locked or obstructed while work is being carried on in the room.]
(4) In every establishment, every window, door, or other means of exit which may be used for escape in case of fire, other than the path used for normal exit, shall be clearly marked in red color in Bengali script or in any other easily understandable manner.
(5) Every establishment shall have an arrangement for clearly audible warning signals to warn every worker employed therein in case of fire or danger.
(6) Every establishment shall ensure an unobstructed path to help workers in every room reach the different means of exit during a fire.
(7) In every establishment where ten or more workers are ordinarily employed in any place above the ground floor, or where explosive or highly inflammable materials are used or warehoused, effective measures shall be taken to ensure that all workers are familiar with the means of escape in case of fire and receive full training on what actions they should take at that time.
(8) In factories and establishments with fifty or more workers/employees, fire extinguishing drills shall be organized at least once every 1[six months], and a record book shall be maintained in this regard in the manner determined by the owner.
